A well deserved New Year Honours for David Nesbit

With what can only be described as an interesting year for the Housing Market and Estate Agency last year, some good news was a welcome surprise for Nesbits…

Principal, David Nesbit has received a New Year Honours for his lifetime commitment to charitable work. What came as a surprise by way of a letter from the Prime Minister’s office, David expressed his delight at receiving the prestigious British Empire Medal (BEM).

 What Is British Empire Medal?

The British Empire Medal (BEM), is a British medal awarded for meritorious civil or military service worthy of recognition by the Crown. The medal was created by Royal Warrant on December 29th 1922 to replace the Medal of the Order of the British Empire (1907-1922). Recipients are entitled to use the post-nominal letters "BEM" and it is divided into civil and military medals in a similar way to the Order of the British Empire itself. The Medal of the Order of the British Empire was first established in 1917 together with the Order of the British Empire itself.

In a recent feature by the Portsmouth News, David said: ‘It is an honour and is definitely appreciated. I have spent my time trying to help people with their various issues and it is very nice indeed to be recognised in this way. He adds: ‘Portsmouth is a city which cares and there are some people who just need assistance’.
